The Solution to Fashion by GreyManner

Instead of studying for a midterm, I have passed the last hour watching videos on FLY16x9. FLY is “the premiere creator of experiential branded films in the luxury market.” They’re here to satisfy our art/fashion/photography/music/dance/design needs on a multi-sensory level. Think names like Hussein Chalayan, Ann Demeulemeester, Thom Browne, Junya Watanabe… and the list goes on.
These videos are seriously crack for my eyes—beautiful people (models included), killer clothes, great music, amazing art direction and intriguing storylines, what more can I ask for? Move on over print, I think I’ve found something to satisfy my ADHD.
After looking through hundreds of pages of magazines, websites and blogs, I had begun to notice the repetition of ideas, images, you name it—everything. I’m not saying I am guilt-free of contributing to this repetition, but I definitely tried to think of ways to work around it. So that’s why FLY16x9 is here. Founded in 2003 by Stephen Blaise and Catherine Camille Cushman, FLY16x9 was created as a “platform for an authentic exchange of ideas and collaborations between artists of various disciplines.” With contributors like Karl Lagerfeld, John Malkovich, and Jamie Isaia to name a few, it’s interesting to see how their vision translates in a platform that is outside of their regular ‘what they’re known for’ realm.
A new film is released each month, but if you’re like me, you have to make sure you’ve watched each one from the start to be sure you haven’t missed anything because trust me, you are missing out if you pass over them… but maybe watch them when you don’t have a midterm to study for. I was going to embed them in this post via youtube links, but you have to watch it in higher quality off the website to really appreciate it. So please visit FLY16x9 to see what they’re about!
